Investment Associate

E2 Investments (Pty) Ltd is an impact investor and the empowerment partner to Allan Gray Limited. E2’s mission is to change the unemployment landscape and attack poverty in South Africa through investing in the businesses created by Allan Gray Fellows, as well as supporting social entrepreneurs.

Job description:

  •   Investment Associate supports the team’s investment activities through the cycle – origination, execution and post-investment
  •   She/he will also work on a variety of corporate-wide projects Main duties and responsibilities:
  •   Analyse financial statements and prepare financial models
  •   Conduct industry, market and company research
  •   Participate in all aspects of E2’s investment cycle from project development to disbursement
  •   Provide support for investment negotiations and due diligence
  •   Assist in post-investment activities
  •   Contribute to our social entrepreneurship mandate by assessing proposals
  •   Prepare documents, briefing papers, reports and presentations for internal and external audiences
  •   Take minutes at meetings
  •   Work on corporate-wide projects (e.g. events, communication, etc)

    Education and experience requirements

  •   Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in finance, business, or other related fields
  •   CA(SA), CFA or MBA
  •   Minimum 2 years of relevant investing experience such as PE/VC
  •   Strong financial, analytical and financial modelling skills
  •   Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Key attributes/skills sought:
  •   Interest and understanding of our organisation’s mission
  •   Passion for contributing to making a positive difference to South Africa
  •   Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills in English
  •   Team player with strong interpersonal skills
  •   Ability to work successfully with entrepreneurs and build relationships with stakeholders
  •   Emotional maturity and professionalism
  •   Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  •   Willingness and ability to work on various corporate-wide projects
  •   Highly reliable and organised
  •   Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
