The African Sustainability Summit 2017 is proud to announce that we will be running the second Green Pitch Competition for SMME Entrepreneurs, at the Summit main event on the 29th of June 2017.
Green Pitch will take place at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange during the second half of the day at this year’s African Sustainability Summit. Finalists will have the opportunity to take part in high impact mentoring sessions, pitch to business leaders enhancing market access, engage with potential investors  and win fantastic prizes. This year finalists have the added opportunity to enter into The Da Vinci Institute’s TT100 Business Innovation Awards programme and the prestigious Innovation League Awards SMME categories.
Entries for Green Pitch opened on, Monday the 21st of February and will close on the 31st of March after which the adjudication process will start. Finalists will be announced on the 2nd of May.
 
About this Competition:
This event show-cases creativity, innovation management and design-thinking to business leaders across industry enhancing potential market access and investment- therefore bridging the gap between resilient value chains and developing sustainable NEW enterprises as value added suppliers. These SMME’s are selected, incubated and rewarded according to their contribution towards a sustainable and inclusive growth green economy through strategic collaboration with the majority of national incubators in South Africa Green Pitch hold the key to Africa’s Emerging Economy.

The Selection Process:
Green Pitch nominees will have to measure up to a robust “Six Capitals Score
Card”. The Six Capitals Model, which was developed to ensure balanced
integrated reporting, is the basis of the evaluation of entrants, according to
their level of Net Positive contribution in their community, ecology and industry. Raldu Nel, Chairman of the Summit says: “The purpose of the “Green Pitch” is not only to reward and recognize Africa’s top entrepreneurs in the Green Economy, but to also to create broadened awareness of the Holistic 6 Capitals Integration and Interdependence Strategy, a key to drive Resilient Business Performance across the value chain. This event will show-case creativity and design thinking to business leaders across industry and doing so bridge the gap between formal industry and entrepreneurs – the key to Africa’s Emerging Economy.”
The finalists will have the opportunity to go through a mentoring session with some of the top leaders of industry and this will be followed by a dry-run session at the JSE on the 28th of June to enable them to be market ready! They will then present their polished product or differentiated service in the Auditorium the Johannesburg Stock Exchange on the 29th of June to a panel of specialist judges. The winners will be announced at the end of the day.
Incubation:
The top finalists of last year’s Green Pitch have been incorporated in an
incubation process and project of the African Sustainable Development
Association – The Sustainable Villages Concept. Demonstrating the power of
collaboration and economic development of entrepreneurs.
